Mr Roulstone
PE Lead

Here at Cloudside, we promote a healthy physical and mental lifestyle. We have a specialist PE teacher who leads all PE lessons across school. We have developed a curriculum that allows every child to learn a range of new and exciting skills through a wide variety of sports. Each lesson, every child has the opportunity to practise new skills with excellent modelling and personalised feedback, resulting in increased confidence and accuracy from every child.

We also have a school swimming pool, where every child will swim each year that they attend Cloudside Academy. Through supportive, trusted guidance, we have already seen the water confidence of all children increase. As a fully qualified life guard and swim teacher, Mr Roulstone will support each child to reach the Government target of confidently swimming a minimum of 25m using multiple strokes. We also ensure that all children complete water safety provision, in line with Government guidance.

Alongside our PE curriculum, we also participate within a wide range of sporting events and competitions. We organise inter school competitions with local school and schools within our Trust. We aim to ensure that every child participates within a competition event every year.

We also invite inspiring athletes into school to inspire and motivate the children to try new sports. External sporting groups, such a Long Eaton Rugby club, 180 Academy, Nottingham College, Notts County Football and Sandiacre Town Football also come into school to showcase their sports.

When attending events, some children have been lucky to meet athletes and get their autograph. These are displayed on our sporting wall in the centre of the school.

To further enhance the opportunities available to our children, we also offer a wide range of after school clubs that every child can access.
